About Specc

If you’re tired of tucking in at the same old strip of cafes and restaurants| week in| week out| it may be time to leave Coogee| Bondi and Bronte behind (if only this once) and look elsewhere - particularly Clovelly. At the bottom end of Clovelly Road there’s a café-cum-restaurant that’s buzzing with life and there’s little wonder the locals love it so much - at Specc we tick all the right boxes.

During the day| Specc presents itse as a cafe| perfect for a casual breakfast or lunch. It fits in perfectly with the laid-back Clovelly beachside lifestyle. The food is imple yet delicious| with everything from pancakes and muesli to marinated lamb fillets| potato and parmesan gnocchi and delicious beef burgers.

At night| Specc takes on a whole new look. The polished concrete floors of the casual café-by-day are swept clean of the sandy footprints left by board short-clad beachgoers| soft candlelight and mellow music fill the room and the diners look markedly more dapper.

The food takes on a slightly more refined persona also| though it’s still essentially ‘modern Australian’| borrowing from both European and Asian influences but making the most of fresh local produce. Our head chef Craig Robinson certainly knows how to cook.

Owners Simon and Carolyn Doughty established Specc over seven years ago and it continues to flourish. "Why Specc?" you may ask - Simon| Paige| Elliot| Curtis and Carolyn - the Doughty's restaurant is all about family!
