About Modena 88

The restaurant is named after the Italian city and province Modena which lies northwest of Bologna in Emilia-Romagna Italy. The province is renowned in culinary circles for its production of balsamic vinegar lambrusco wine and parmigiano reggiano and is also famous for the production of the prestigious Ferrari.

Modena 88 undoubtedly lives up to its impressive Italian heritage. The restaurant's interior design was created by the same stylist who worked for the House of Chanel. During the day Modena is sun-lit and spacious while at night the atmosphere sways towards a cosmopolitan and urbane feel. The red hues and mood lighting complemented by the laid-back lounge beats add to the seductive ambience.

Modena has a drink only licence which allows 30% of its patrons to drink at the trendy bar without eating. Mixologist Aaron Powdrill creates a superb range of cocktails which can also be enjoyed with bar food or high quality cheese platters from Australia on a Plate. The Italian theme runs through the cheeses with such varieties as the gorgonzola and the taleggio on offer.

The breakfast lunch and dinner menus change according to season and daily specials are always available. Head chef Craig Donnelly serves an interpretation of modern Italian dining infused with Mediterranean influences. The most popular dishes include Pappardelle with Braised Spring Lamb Mushrooms and Parmesan and Grilled Yellow Fin Tuna with Sicilian Caponata and Lemon. The restaurant also has a number of vegetarian options amongst the more favoured are the Mushroom and Asparagus Risotto (main) and the Zucchini Flowers Stuffed with Ricotta and Garlic (entree). The dessert menu will also please all with its mix of both classic Italian and modern seasonal sweet dishes.
